Galan, better known as Galactus was a mysterious space god that wandered through space and consumed the energy of life-bearing planets in order to survive. He is the true main antagonist in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Galactus was a cosmic entity, born within the universe itself. He preserves the balance of life by eating planets, just as a lion does to zebras.

He sends his herald, the Silver Surfer, who entered his service in exchange for his planet's safety, along the galaxies to search for suitable planets. When the Surfer finds Earth, Galactus is called by his servant and he travels the whole universe to reach him.

Trivia[]

  • Galactus was based upon his Ultimate incarnation. The official novelization of the film names the character as "the Gah Lak Tus".
  • Throughout the film, the character is presented through a swirling cloud of cosmic debris with an obscured, more comics-accurate silhouette only briefly glimpsed from within.
  • According to director Tim Story, Galactus' true form was purposefully obscured in order to fully reveal the character's appearance in a Silver Surfer spin-off movie. Concept art for Rise of the Silver Surfer shows Galactus' silhouette a lot more clearly.
